how i love you is funny
i look and look for things to praise
from this man in front me
so i can leave this endless daze
and finally, utterly let you be
pot of words

the childhood monsters
the best bad people you'll ever meet
the things that float up in the air
the people who got your back
the same ones who miss you
the pink elephant in the room
the exact spot where the hot-air balloon was supposed to land
the mango tree, oh,
the mango tree--
the home
the mango tree--
the home
and the tyrant

like the strawberry seeds
crunched under my teeth
or the rainbow-splashed beams
from the cheap toy sold
on a parking lot outside a concert
like the first drag of cigarette
after you lit it on your own
like a nice, long-awaited sneeze
followed by three more
like a new, unpopped bubble wrap
and no one to share with
like a good drunk
and no hangover
like pink smarties
because M&Ms don't have pink
like singing out loud
as if no one's around
that, plus dancing around
in my underwear
like finding a good sunglasses
like a thousand pairs of new shoes
like running around in the rain
and then laughing my ass off
like my own admiration
for me
like yours
for you
like me
and you
i
love
you.

pandora
one-button-eyed teddy halted her
fuzzy pink bunny caused a stir
raggedy ann parted from rag-andy
cornered her and tried to offer candy
really, we all have tried our best
the retired fool even tried to, well, jest
united, we fought and sent SOS through the static
each and every one of us, broken toys in the attic
even the sandman with a hole on his bag
used up his very last drop, that poor ol' rag
we're sorry, but there is nothing we can do
for we have stalled while she was waiting for you
poor girl, she thought it was the pirate's chest
filled with treasures, pretty dresses and zest
but now the demon has come back to claim
a part of her that you can never, ever, tame

riddle me we
here's the next part
of the lovely maze we are
you go this way and i go that
and never mistake it for goodbye
tracing walls with our left hands
you with the stars, and i the breadcrumbs
two lost children
how can we know for sure?
the sun set and shadows gone
and fireflies playing hide and seek
(some shimmery undecipherable language we see)
yet your heartbeat's clapping with mine
a wonderful confusion we be
here to get lost to get found
barefooted and bare hearted
we finally meet at where we part
*a long overdue collaboration with the great nurk

the road
the pale orange afternoon ray
trickling down
our hands making waves
alongside as the car rides on
to the promises of the shore
that we foresaw on
the vignetted photographs
of the life we've always wanted
the home -- finally,
our home
get here soon, i'm saving you a seat

the show
i remember the midnight show
from my front porch
i remember the fading stars
the winking night lights
from rare sightings of aeroplanes
and how in our heads
it was u.f.o. wars,
a fire-breathing godzilla
tiny robot soldiers--wearing parachutes
the nights are nothing but stellar now
and the aeroplanes,
you wouldn't believe
what kind of make believe
from our heads we would relieve
and the rhymes we would sing
from all the kites
and the unnoticed balloons
but they're not you here
and they can't see the dragonflies
flying beside the aeroplane
the rainbow-coloured aliens
fighting the green monster
and the manatee...
ps.
what. a. waste.
come home now.
be it you, or me.

Lately I've been writing some haikus. Or at least I hope these are haikus. Here are four:
jalan ke rumah
tempat balon udara
mendarat, pelik
~~~
road trip melodies
trying to chase moving train
you should've been here
~~~
the delicate lace
the inevitable stain
not careful enough
~~~
unicorns are real
and now, front row at front porch
godzillas' dance off
